Packed trail bag beside a helmet

What to pack for a Victorian MTB tour

Layers, a PDF, a turnaround time.

Pack for the park you are actually visiting. Kurrajong does not need a full-face. International does, according to Mt Buller’s strong recommendation.

Every Melbourne park day

Australian-standard helmet, gloves, glasses, layer, water, food, visitor guide, sunscreen, spare tube or a shop number, and a written turnaround. Dogs gear only at You Yangs, never at Lysterfield.

Alpine extras

Another layer. Lights if any chance of a late DRT. Full-face and pads for gravity. B-Tag if you already have one. The resort’s e-bike rule written down (EN15194 or ≤250 W, no throttle). CFA tab. Trail report tab. Someone else’s phone number.

What not to pack

A ranking. A 2019 price screenshot. A plan that depends on a closed chairlift. Informal-line optimism.

More context: beginner Melbourne days, Buller trail guide, bike hire.
