Mt Buller village and summer bike trails

Destination

Mount Buller

Alpine resort riding with a published trail report.

Mt Buller is the alpine resort the old site treated as the first overnight. Alpine Resorts Victoria manages it. The bike page is unusually complete: more than 100 km of trail, about three hours from Melbourne, gravity and XC, a chairlift, a gravity shuttle, a Mirimbah shuttle, and a 46 km IMBA Epic.

This destination hub is the place page. The historic product URLs still sit at the root: hub, weekender, downhill, XC, Epic, Maximum Gravity.

Season reality

High Country listings summarise the bike park as open approximately November–April. The October 2026 trail report we fetched listed the network closed. That is the whole story: do not drive on a blog memory.

The resort published a Northside Express summer note aimed at 5 December 2026 in the copy we read, with 10 am–4 pm uplift. Those dates move. The calendar on the resort site is the document.

Village practicalities

Address on the bike page: 1 Summit Road, Mount Buller VIC 3723. Phone 1800 BULLER. Resort Management 03 5777 6077 in published hours. Public notices (including water notices) appear on alpineresorts.vic.gov.au.

Stay on-mountain or in the valley — the resort says both exist. We will not invent a lodge inventory.

How the mountain is organised

Think in three systems. Village greens and short intermediates teach you the signage. The mid-mountain XC — Delatite River Trail, Misty Twist, Clancy’s Run, Woolybutt — is where a fit intermediate spends a weekender. Gravity trails and the Epic are opt-in, not the default welcome.

Uplift is a fourth system with its own ticket. Chairlift and gravity shuttle share a summer clock on the 2026 copy (10 am–4 pm). Mirimbah is a fifth ticket if you ride off the bottom of the mountain. Mixing those up is how groups strand a bike at the store.

Weather and notices

Alpine weather is not a Melbourne forecast with extra wind. The resort warns that summer can still freeze and even snow. A boil-water notice can appear and lift independently of the trail report — that happened in October 2026. Check alpineresorts.vic.gov.au as well as the bike page.

Fire: the resort tells riders to stay off the network on Extreme or Code Red days and to read the CFA North East district information. That is not optional colour.
